Pregnancy - 33 Weeks

This week your baby weighs a little over 4 pounds (heft a pineapple) and has passed the 17-inch mark. He's rapidly losing that wrinkled, alien look and his skeleton is hardening. The bones in his skull aren't fused together, which allows them to move and slightly overlap, thus making it easier for him to fit through the birth canal. (The pressure on the head during birth is so intense that many babies are born with a conehead-like appearance.) These bones don't entirely fuse until early adulthood, so they can grow as his brain and other tissue expands during infancy and childhood.

How far along? 33 weeks
Total weight gain:  32lbs
Sleep: not great
Favorite moment this week: spending quality time with John
Movement: SO MUCH.  Jake is one active baby!
Symptoms: slow moving, heartburn, hip pain, poor sleep, swollen feet/ankles
Food cravings: nothing in particular
Food aversions: none
Gender: BOY!!!!
Labor Signs: none, but LOTS of braxton hicks contractions
Belly Button in or out? out
What I miss:  regular looking feet.  mine have looked like bricks with toes for the past several weeks.  Plus, I can't reach my toes to trim my nails, so John did the honors, bless him.  Sweet, but they're definitely a little jacked up.
What I am looking forward to: baby shower tomorrow and ultrasound Tuesday!
Weekly Wisdom: listen to your body and trust your instincts
Milestones: Just 7 more weeks until due date!

This week's session of our child birth class was much better and more informative than last week's.  Each husband had to take a "how well do you know your wife" quiz.  John got all but one of the questions right!  We did the best out of everyone! (Is it bad to be competitive in child birth class?)
