Pregnancy - 22 Weeks

Weeks 21-24 (Month 5): Papaya

Watch what you say -- baby is now able to hear outside noise from down in the womb. Studies show that baby finds gentle music and your own voice most soothing. Nipples are starting to sprout, and that little face is fully formed. And, baby's starting to settle into sleep cycles, snoozing about 12 to 14 hours a day. It shouldn't be hard to figure out when -- just pay attention to those kicks as they start and stop. 

Before this week in pregnancy, fetal growth (weight and height) really doesn't vary much from baby to baby, but, starting now, there is a range.  So no more weekly fruit comparisons, just monthly. :)


How far along? 22 weeks!
Total weight gain: 12 lbs
Sleep: some nights great some nights not at all.  every night up a minimum of 3 times to the potty.
Favorite moment this week:  celebrating our 2nd anniversary
Movement: more and more every day
Symptoms: heartburn, back pain
Symptoms I DON'T have: many
Food cravings: spicy food
Food aversions: none
Gender: BOY!!!
Labor Signs: too soon
Belly Button in or out? the top is out! waiting for the rest of it to catch up!
What I miss: sweet tea
What I am looking forward to: SO MUCH!

Milestones:  by week 22, Jake has likely reached the big 1 pound mark!

I am feeling more and more movement every day and I'm even starting to notice some patterns.  It is the most amazing feeling in the world.  In a few weeks, I'm supposed to start "kick counting" which will present a whole new opportunity for my neurotic tendancies to rear their ugly heads, but, for now, I am just relishing every little movement of my precious Jake.

I had a visit with a new urologist Wednesday and it went very well.  He didn't recommend any action at this point, but he did give me a plan should this little peanut sized kidney stone decide to misbehave.  That's all I needed and I feel so much better about it now.  I can now rest assured knowing that, if the stone drops, they will take immediate action to retrieve it and whatever they do will pose no risk to Jake.  He joked and said he hopes we won't have a reason to give Jake a nickname like Stoney or Rocky!  Pretty funny.
