Umbilical Hernia and Metatarsus Adductus

Jake has an umbilical hernia (click for info).  It doesn't actually protrude as much as it did in his first few weeks, but, Monday, it was harder to the touch than normal which is something that Dr. Bagley had told us to call about immediately.  So we did and I took him in yesterday morning.  Everything is fine, but she was glad we came and said, if it happens again, just put him in the car and come so she can examine him while it's like that.
As detailed in the link above, complications are rare with these hernias, but I'm glad we called and checked it out.

Jake also has a mild form of metatarsus adductus (click for info).  Dr. Bagley noticed in the hospital right after he was born that his feet turned in a bit.  She kept an eye on them and decided that, since the right one has not satisfactorily improved, we should see an orthopedist.  We did and now Jake will be getting physical therapy for a few months.  His first session was yesterday and it went well.  It's mild and won't require casting, thank goodness, just taping for a week at a time for a few months.  His first taping will be done next Thursday.  You would never notice this just by looking at him, and it's not severe enough to cause trouble walking, but I'm glad we, along with his doctor, are being proactive and nipping this in the bud while his bones are still so flexible.

Both of these are very common in babies and, in Jake's case, are mild.
