28 Week OB Visit

Today was my 28 week appointment and it went very well!  I had the glucose screening test (the drink was pretty gross, but not as bad as I'd heard) and we'll find out the results of that next week.  AND they were able to get the blood with one stick! ONE!  This is revolutionary for me as I am a "very tough stick".  Never has this happened and I've been stuck A LOT over the years!  Also, I met with a different doctor today, Dr. Gee, and she is fabulous!  She answered all of my neurotic questions and, like the others, made me feel very good and very comfortable.  Two more to meet and then I'm back with dear Dr. Jones.  Next appointment is July 5.  Everything else with me looked great, blood pressure, etc... blah blah blah

Now onto the most important news... Jake is doing great!  The ultrasound was done today to check to make sure the fluid on his kidney has gone down since 20 weeks and IT HAS!  No extra fluid at all on either kidney!  His heart rate was 128bpm (good) and all of his other measurements look good, too.  The placenta looks good and they also confirmed my suspicions that Jake is, indeed, laying on my left side on an artery (cause for more swelling on left foot/hand and being a wee bit bigger on that side of my belly).  It was so cool to see him move around and feel it at the same time!  It must also be said that he is still very proud to be a boy!

And guess what!  Our boy already weighs 3.3 pounds (70th percentile)!!!  Average (50th percentile) at 28 weeks is about 2.5 pounds!  Healthy, big boy!  I am so proud!

a shot of his face from the front.  a little smushed, but you
can make out where his mouth, nose, and eyes are...sort of

and here is that sweet, sweet profile again

GO BIG JAKE!!!
