conversation with a 5 year old

conversations with Henry always give me a pick me up...

me: hey, henny!
h: hey, aunt hanna. what you doin'? do you feel better?
me: i do. thank you.  i can't wait to see you tomorrow. 
h: where's baby jake?
me: at uncle john's mom's house playing.
h: doing what?
me: mmm...probaby playing in his exersaucer.  you know the round thing like manning used to have that he sat in with lots of toys around it that make noise?
h: oh yeah.  (silence..)  does that help baby jake learn how to walk?  oh. hang on.  i gotta get a piece of gum. (seconds).....ok I can talk now.  does that help baby jake learn how to walk?
me: well, yeah it kind of does, actually.  it helps make him strong.  that's a really good question, bud.  you know you better get ready for all kinds of kisses tonight at that party.  everybody's gonna be so excited to see you.
h: oh, great....aunt hanna, do you know i can whistle?
me: no, i didn't, henny!  that's great! can i hear?
h: (silence.....)  did you hear it??!
me: yes!  (no)  that sounded great!  good job!
h: my mimi's the queen of whistling loud.
me: that's so good.
h: what are you doing right now?
me: i'm just looking on the computer.
h: oh, you're not watching tv like the news or something?
me: no.  i don't have the tv on right now.
h: oh.  here's mama.
