Hamp 3 months

Hamp is 3 months old!

He takes 5oz breast milk every 3 hours during the day.  He has a 7oz bottle of AR formula before bed.  He gets breast milk during the night when he wakes up.  He usually wakes up once between 2:30 and 5am and then will go back down until 6:30/7am.  A few nights lately, he’s also woken up around midnight hungry.  I am really hoping he starts sleeping 12 hours soon.  Jake was around 14 weeks when he started that, so it’s not looking like we’re gonna match that, but that’s ok.   :) He is swaddled for naps and bedtime in his woombie.

Hamp is still adjusting to being at school.  I get a log every day of his diapers, feedings, and naps and his naps average about 20 minutes. (at home, they’re between each feeding and last at least an hour.  He usually at least 1 a day that’s 2 or 3 hours) He has been napping from about 5:30 until 7 at home after school.  I wake him up around 7 to do our bath/bedtime routine and he goes back down between 7:30 and 8 for the night.  Tired one.

He does not like to be in the car unless it’s moving, so he usually does fine on the interstate, but in down gets dicey.  Jake is very sweet and will say “it’s ok, Hampy” or “we’re almost there, Hampy”.  Yesterday, though, he was annoyed and said, “Hampy!  You’re making my eyes pop out of my head!”  Mine, too, buddy.

Hamp is happy (unless he’s sleepy) and loves to smile and talk.  He loves to be on the bed and look at the windows and ceiling fan.  He likes (demands) to be held a lot, but isn’t so into cuddling right now.  I remember Jake was like that too when he started being more aware of everything. He does not like his swing anymore and will only tolerate the bouncy seat if he is fed and not tired at all. He will follow you from one side of the room to the other and turn his head to sound, both milestones.  He noticed himself in the mirror (doesn't know it's him) and talked to the baby but was confused when he saw me in it too. :) He hasn’t rolled over (since that one fluke time several weeks ago), but honestly, he doesn’t get much tummy time at home, since we have a giant almost 4 year old running around.

Speaking of Jake, Hamp loves him!  He watches him play and lights up when he talks to him.  I still have to remind Jake not to get in his face and scream (he gets excited), but he is usually very gentle with him.  I can’t wait until Hamp is old enough to interact with him more.

Hamp’s hair is starting to come back in on top.  It’s brown.  His eyes still change between grayish hazel depending on the light.  His eyes are big and beautiful and his chin and cheeks are edible as ever.
