better late than never:
Jake is doing very well. He is learning new words and skills every day.
- He is climbing more and more on furniture. Thankfully, he's not able to climb out of his crib yet (we are NOT ready for that).
- He LOVES LOVES LOVES to play outside. We take him out back every day after "school". He can now slide down the little slide we have by himself. He says "weee" every time. It's funny because he doesn't yell it like he's excited. He says it kind of like he's bored, but he's not. It's funny.
- He has a very sweet and happy disposition, but is fiery and full of life. He can go from 0 to 60 in 1 second flat. (see below on temper) For the most part, his schedule doesn't vary, but I'm so thankful that he handles it well when it does.
- Hoots is his buddy. Ususally if Jake is upset, he runs for me, but if I'm the one that makes him upset, he runs to find hoots. He puts him up beside his face and sniffles himself calm.
- He is very very "grabby". He is constantly reaching and grabbing for things he knows he shouldn't and it's a tantrum when we have to take whatever it is away.
- And he knows how to throw one down let me tell you. He is as stubborn as stubborn can be. It's funny this is the case because he can also be very, very laid back. He loves to take the books off the book shelf and grab for our keys/sunglasses/whatever on the entryway table. He is well be haved when we go out to eat and enjoys being out. He has been very well behaved for Bea lately; no hitting, etc... However, for us, he is constantly testing our limits, which is only natural. It's pretty much a constant power struggle. It can be extremely frustrating for us and for him, but this, too, shall pass, and we're glad he's well behaved for others.
- He has started to, occasionally, walk to his room for nap or bed time and say night night when he's sleepy. There is no arguing with that.
- He copies John when he stretches loudly in the mornings and brings him his shoes when it's time to go. It's very cute. He'll also bring us our shoes if he wants to go outside.
- He wakes up happy and will chat with himself for a few minutes before I go get him.
- He's started to like me to tickle his back. I used to love this when I was little too.
- He likes to sit by me in one of the big chairs in the den. He'll sit with me and hug me for longer then he will with John. John is his jungle gym and he is on go with him all the time.
- it's hard to get a good count, but he has at least 14 or 15 teeth. He's fussy sometimes about teething, but has handled it well overall.
- He is very, very active and keeps us on our toes. Rainy days around here are a little tough because we can't get him outside to let some energy out.

he puts his hands on his bottom and says boo boo when he has a boo boo, but he's starting to do it when he thinks he has to go. When he does this, we put him on the potty. He's only actually gone once, but that's ok. I'm glad he's starting to notice the "urge" to go.

This is a fun and challenging age and, while I do hope the tantrums/grabbing will pass soon, I know they will not and I wouldn't trade this time for anything. He wakes up happy and goes to bed happy. There are some trying moments in between, but he's doing just fine.
